PUSHKAR - the guru of all teerths

Pushkar-the guru of all teerths, is a flourishing TEMPLE TOWN full of religious myths and faiths. The biggest attraction being the ONLY TEMPLE OF LORD BRAHMA (LORD OF CREATION) Revered today as one of the INDIA'S MOST SACRED SITE. PUSHKAR TOWN is located near AJMER (holy place of Muslims) in the state of RAJASTHAN and is known by its HOLY PUSHKAR LAKE which is created by LORD BRAHMA (The creator).

The charming lake amidst the wide range of aravali hill, has 52 bathing 'GHATS' built arround, each ghat is supposed to have special power. The three main ghats are BRAHMA ghat, GAU ghat,and VARAHA ghat.

The pious pushkar lake believed to have been created by the falling of lotus from the hand of Lord Brahma. Based on this myth, Lord Brahma threw the lotus (PUSHP) with his kar(HAND) and so the lake got his name pushkar. Pushkar Lake is considered to be as old as the creation.
There are also important mentions about the city pushkar in the epic RAMAYANA and MAHABHARATA.
Pushkar was one of the favourite destination of MUGHAL RULERS and all its basic rules & regulation about pushkar lake are famed by Mughal ruler AURANGZEB after experiencing the SPIRITUAL POWERS of pushkar lake.

The place pushkar has become the MAJOR PILGRIMAGE and TOURISTS ATTRACTIONS of the country as well as from all over the globe.

IMPORTANCE
This place is important for two reasons:

1. BRAHMA TEMPLE

The only temple of Lord Brahma on this planet formed by HINDU GURU SHANKARACHARYA.

2. PUSHKAR LAKE

The lake which is formed by Lord Brahma himself. According to PADMA PURAN the main importance is of Pushkar Lake. Its WATER believed to CLEANCE the SOUL of all IMPURITIES and SINS.BATH at Pushakar Lake is thought to be more important than at any other place. A dip in lake by woman absolves herself, her husband and her family.

The holy dip in lake on KARTIK SHUKLA PAKSHA POORNIMA i.e. According to HINDU CALENDER The FIFTEENTH DAY of kartik month of shukla paksha also known as FULL MOON, makes ones WAY TO HEAVEN.

Ganga jaye gomti jaye sab teerth kareyaye,

Ek dhaam pushkar nai aaye nar mukti na paaye.

According to HINDU MYTHOLOGY, the dip at CHAAR DHAAMS i.e

  1. Badrinarayan.

  2. Kedarnath,(Jagannath puri).

  3. Gangotri.

  4. Yamnotri


is considered COMPLETE & FRUITFULL only AFTER getting DIP at PUSHKAR LAKE, as the lake is BLESSED by Lord Brahma himself.

 PUSHKAR FAIR AND FESTIVALS

The INTERNATIONAL PUSHKAR FAIR india is celebrated in KARTIK MONTH of Hindu calendar EVRY YEAR i.e OCTOBER & NOVEMBER. It is considered as THE COUNTRY'S LARGEST CATTLE FAIR & goes for a main period of NINE DAYS. Large number of MERCHANTS & TRADERS gathers during the fair. Attending pushkar fair is one’s LIFE TIME EXPERIENCE.

 FAVOURABLE SEASON

Idle season to visit pushkar is BETWEEN the months of OCTOBER & MAY.

 RELIGIOUS BELIEFS

1. Pushkar is the RIGHT EYE of EARTH - padma puran.

2. Center of universe- padam puran.

3. Pooja,aarti, tarpan, pind daan, yagya have their own importance done at this place.
4. Pilgrims come at this place for PRAYING & doing POOJA while sitting on the ghat for the WELFARE of their family & for resolving their SORROWS, SUFFERINGS & SINS.
